Brain vascular malformations are abnormal tangles or connections between blood vessels that can occur within or on the surface of the brain. The most common types include arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernous malformations, and dural arteriovenous fistulas.
These conditions can cause hemorrhage, seizures, headaches, or progressive neurological deficits. Surgery aims to remove or disconnect the malformation to eliminate the risk of future bleeding and reduce seizure activity.
How the Procedure Works
Dr. Waldron evaluates each vascular malformation with detailed imaging including MRI, CT angiography, and in some cases cerebral angiography. During microsurgical resection, the malformation is carefully isolated and its feeding and draining blood vessels are controlled in a precise sequence.

What Recovery Looks Like
